The reason that I started to get down and greedy and picky about, you know, the existence of comparison is because I find more often than not it’s a female artist that get compared to each other more often than men. There’s a lot of male artists in all genres across the board who have a very similar sound, the same way there’s a lot of female artists with a similar sound. But it seems like people create comparisons sometimes just for the sake of  enabling competition because they like to see two women go head to head, they like to see the female comparisons. I mean, I get compared to artists all the time and sometimes I’m like ‘Oh yeah! I totally get that. That makes total sense.’ And sometimes I get compared to an artist whose sound is maybe not the same as mine. Lyrics maybe, aren’t the same vibe as mine but they’re the same age. Or from the same place. And it gets frustrating. It feels like they’re creating this competition to instill this sense of girl vs girl.
